A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD
REGARDING THE WINTER FARMERS MARKET
Northern Colorado Food Cluster Seeking Input and Engagement on Future of Fort Collin’s Winter Farmers’ Market
To the Local Food Community:
The Northern Colorado Food Cluster (NCFC) Board is seeking ways to both wind up the NCFC as currently constituted, and identify a responsible and community-conscious way to put the Winter Farmer’s Market in a position to thrive in the future.
The Winter Farmers’ Market has, for many years, been a valued asset to the community, operating out of the Opera Galleria building in Old Town from November through April of each year. It will continue to operate for 2018-2019 in the same location. It is currently operated by the NCFC.
We would greatly appreciate public input and engagement with regards to the future of the Winter Farmers’ Market. We are seeking individuals or entities that may have an interest in the operation of the Market moving forward.
Accordingly, the NCFC Board would be grateful for input from any of our community partners and members on the following by August 31st2018:
-Individuals from the community who may have an interest in joining a non-profit board, which would be primarily focused on the mission of operating the Market.
-Individuals or entities in the community who might have an interest in sponsorship or other opportunities to support the Market directly.
-Entities, which might have an interest in management and operation of the Winter Farmers’ Market.
-A non-profit entity may choose to receive the currently held assets of NCFC or operate the NCFC as a ‘subsidiary’ or some type of controlling entity.
-A for-profit entity may choose to create a separate non-profit entity it controls that will receive the NCFC assets, or ‘take over’ by assuming a controlling position of the NCFC by providing board members to the NCFC.
We cannot be certain of the Market’s long-term future, receiving strong community engagement on the issues outlined above is critical to the future of the Market.
The NCFC Board is committed to chart a responsible course that will best serve our community, and your input and engagement is greatly valued as we work towards that goal. Please feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any thoughts, questions or ideas.
We thank you for your continued commitment to our local food community!
